The best way to get around is by car, since the trains on the west coast of scotland north of Glasgow are not frequent and only travel to the main urban areas. However, there is a good bus service from Glasgow to Campbeltown that passes by the front door so that is always an option.
It is also very easy to get to Glasgow from other parts of the UK, via Easyjet flights and then you can hire a car at the Airport. The drive from Glasgow ariport to Lochgair is a wonderful introduction to the Highlands with spectacular scenery and historical stop off points on the way.
If you drive up from the south west of scotland on the M74 once you come to Glasgow, join the M8 and follow signs to Glasgow Airport. Follow the M8 past Glasgow Airport and take the exit for the Erskine Bridge and go over the bridge, joining the A82 north to Dumbarton and Loch Lomond. Continue on the A82, up the side of Loch Lomond and you will now notice the fantastic scenery.
At Tarbet turn left to join the A83. Stay on the A83 for about an hour now and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of mountains and lochs until you reach Lochgair village. Carry on straight through the village for about half a mile.
Loran House and Little Loran House are on the right hand side and you will be able to spot the stone-built house with light blue/green painted woodwork at the eaves of the roof. You have arrived! Enjoy!
